About Dr. McMillen
Dr. John McMillen’s life and career can be summed up by the proverb:
“Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day;
teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.”
At the age of 5, Dr. McMillen's family struggled to survive living on welfare. Seeking a better life, his mother attended college, driving 100 miles a day to the nearest university. Three years later, she graduated magna cum laude. She went on to become a teacher for over 30 years, stressing the importance of getting an education.
Following his mother’s example, Dr. McMillen went to college and received four college degrees (Ph.D., Law Degree, Masters, and Bachelors with minors in English, Philosophy, and Business). He became a nationally recognized professor, author, and researcher who has presented around the world. He specializes in teaching others how to succeed and has taught thousands of people how to become more successful, earning him the name, “the Professor of Success.”
Twenty years ago, Dr. McMillen noticed a similar pattern in his classes. Virtually all of his students, whether those just starting out, or professionals seeking to advance their careers, wanted to succeed, but few knew how. Drawing on his Ph.D. and expertise in Curriculum and Instruction, he developed an innovative course to teach his students how to succeed.
Today, Dr. McMillen’s career extends beyond the classroom into real estate where he has been a broker for over a decade. He is currently the CEO and Broker of Success Brokerage, a 100% commission real estate brokerage, and the founder of the Agent Success Academy that helps agents achieve the career and life they always dreamed of.
Whether he’s teaching classes to inmates inside federal prison, to university students on college campuses, or training real estate agents via the Agent Success Academy, at the core of Dr. McMillen's lessons is his belief in the power of education and the difference it can make in one’s life. During his breakthrough training classes, he guides others to unlock their potential, take control of their career, and achieve a better life.
Dr. McMillen and his wife, Dr. Rebecca McMillen (who is also a college professor), live in California with their two daughters, Allison and Milana, whom they adopted from foster care at the ages of 6 and 12. He considers his family to be his greatest success. He is currently working on a book and class, The Ingredients of Success. When he isn’t teaching, you’ll find him in the Sierra Mountains or visiting with friends and family in Australia.
